Cardiac Therapeutics for Small Animal
Practice An evening meeting with Dr Paul Wotton of the University of Glasgow Cardiac disease
is a common finding in small animal practice, but it is not always easy to
decide whether a murmur is a cause for concern, nor whether signs such as a
cough or tachypnoea are due to cardiac or
respiratory disease. There have also
been a number of changes recently in the drugs available for treating heart disease, and a shift in opinions on their value. Newer methods of diagnosis and treatment
are also becoming available. This evening
meeting will focus on the presentation, diagnosis and treatment of the most
important types of acquired cardiac disease seen in dogs (degenerative valvular disease and dilated cardiomyopathy) and cats (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and variants of this),
emphasising practical tips to increase understanding and confidence in
diagnosis, and consideration of treatment options for heart failure and
common arrhythmias. Interaction and questions based on attendees' own cases
will be encouraged. Course Tutor: Paul Wotton BVSc PhD DVC MRCVS RCVS Recognised Specialist in Veterinary
